Recital Info Packet

I've gotten quite a few questions recently regarding recital logistics. You should be getting a packet in the mail in the next couple of days that goes over a lot of the nitty-gritty details. I've included the letter below. The picture schedule I have already posted--you can search "pictures" or "dress rehearsal" for the schedule.

Dear Students and Families,

Our annual student recital is fast approaching, and there are number of details that need addressing to ensure this year’s recital goes smoothly. There are a few changes from last year, namely that photos and the dress rehearsal are on the same day. Hopefully this packet provides all the vital information, but please do not hesitate to call or stop by our offices for more specific questions and concerns. We can be reached at (952) 563-8562.

Sincerely,

The CBC Directors and Staff

General Info

Dress Rehearsal/Photos: Wednesday, June 17th. The photo and rehearsal schedule is attached.

Recital: Thursday, June 18th, 7:00 pm in the Schneider Theater (in the same building as the studio)

Tickets

Tickets are $8.00. They can be ordered either by calling our box office at (952) 563-8562, or by stopping in at our registration office. Our office hours are Monday-Friday, 3:30-7:30. We accept cash, check, Visa and Mastercard.

Dress Rehearsal and Photo Day

Students must arrive and check-in at the office at least 15 minutes before their scheduled rehearsal and photo times.

Students in Pre-Ballet, Ballet I, Ballet II and Ballet IIIa should arrive in costume, with hair and make-up done. After checking-in, they should go into the theater to wait for their class’s turn. Students in Levels IIIb and up may change backstage, in the women’s dressing room.

Ford Studios will provide information on photo packages available to order.

Recital

Arrival times:

Pre-Ballet/Ballet I/Ballet II/Ballet IIIa Check in by 6:30

Ballet IIIb/Ballet IV/Advanced Check in by 5:15 (there will be class from 5:30-6:30.)

Parents of Pre-Ballet and Ballet I: This year your students will be sitting with you in the theater for the second half of the recital. There will be a brief pause, during which the students will be led down to the side aisles for you to take them back to your seats.

After the recital, Ballet I, II, and IIIa students may be picked up in the studio.

Recording

Dress rehearsal is the only time that you may videotape or photograph your child on stage. PLEASE: NO VIDEO OR PHOTOGRAPHY DURING THE RECITAL. Videos of the recital will be available for purchase for $10.00. Payment is due at the time of purchase, and checks must be made out to the City of Bloomington.

Attire, Hair, and Make-up

Attire:

Students must wear pink, non-shiny ballet tights without seams, and pink ballet slippers. When costumes arrive, teachers will distribute and go over any adjustments, headpieces, etc. On picture/rehearsal day and for the recital, Pre-Ballet, Ballet I, and Ballet II students should arrive in their costumes and ready to go. Tuition, including June, must be paid in full before students receive their costumes.

Hair:

All female students need to wear their hair in a low (at the nape of the neck) bun. Bangs must be slicked back, no stray hairs, and no clips or other decorations. Parents, if you have questions on how to fix your child’s hair, please talk to their instructor.

Make-up:

Parents of students in Pre-Ballet, or Ballet I, II, and IIIa should apply light make-up prior to their student arriving at the studio—a little blush and lipstick is fine.

Students in Level IIIb and higher should consult their teacher or those students who have performed in CBC’s professional productions in the past to determine what make-up they need and how to apply it.
